Art Exhibit by John Williams
John Williams created twenty portraits of iconic personalities and musicians including David Bowie, John Lennon, Madonna, Amy Winehouse, Muddy Waters, and Marilyn Monroe. Each acrylic on canvas painting is rendered in bold, vibrant color. Along with Pop Art portraits, Williams will also be featuring landscape paintings and unique color flow paintings.

Mark has written 104 songs and performs over 45 of them live. In the tradition of Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Warren Zevon, and Steve Earle, Mark’s original songs analyze American life through a sympathetic, yet sometimes critical, eye. He also writes and performs autobiographically inspired songs about love, aspirations, and everyday occurrences. In addition to his original work, he periodically throws in cover songs from some of his favorite artists.

Tapping: Emotional Acupressure

Tapping is an energy method that uses meridians of the body in the same way that acupuncture and acupressure uses these points to align the organs of the body to promote their optimum function. Tapping is defined as emotional acupressure. This class will teach the basic tapping sequences of gently tapping on meridian points of the head and neck to relieve common concerns such as anxiety, fears, or other debilitating emotions. Tapping can also be used to relieve chronic pain. It is not invasive, needs no special equipment, and causes no pain. It can be applied to the self and is easily taught to others.

 

Dolores Card has taught metaphysical principles and doctrines through classes, seminars, and workshops, as well as Reiki certification, for 25 years. She is a Reiki master, ecumenical minister, and spiritual advisor. Her professional career included working with victims of sexual assault at the Syracuse Rape Crisis Center for 15 years.

Sprockets to Spokes: An Adventure in Bike Repair

You already know how to ride your bike, but do you know how to repair it? Come to Petit for a workshop on bike repair presented by Ben Wormuth—a seventeen year old with a passion for mountain biking, bike repair, and restoring vintage bikes—who has been teaching bike repair since 2014. You will learn chain maintenance, tire maintenance, brake tuning, and basic bike fitting in a hands-on session. So roll up your sleeves, grab a wrench, and learn how to care for your bike to keep it in perfect shape! Registration Required.

Teens who attend this workshop will earn a Bike Repair Badge in the Teen Reading Club.

Teens in grades 7-12 can read and report on books of their choosing and gain admittance to a limited entry Murder Mystery, a Black Light Lock-In Dance Party, a Cartooning Workshop, and an End of the Summer Raffle. TRC members can win awesome prizes like gift cards, movie passes, books, or tickets to the NY State Fair.

 

Murder Mystery: A Family Affair

The year is 1927, and the New York Crime Syndicate “Redrum Runners” are meeting at their private speakeasy for drinks, per request of the head boss Julio “Snuff” De Luca. Join us for a limited entry, after-hours Murder Mystery. Play the role of one of the suspects and piece together the clues to find out who did it. On the night of the event, you’ll get your chance to discover the culprit—it might even be you. Sparkling beverages and snacks served. Registration and signed permission form required. Come to the library in person to receive your invitation to Redrum Runner’s speakeasy, as well as information about your character. Dressing the part on the evening of the event is encouraged.
