Speak Out CNY to hold rally demanding Tenney oppose cuts to food security programs in proposed Farm Bill
Advocates to call on Tenney to stop taking food from children and seniors to pay for massive tax breaks for the wealthy
Speak Out Central New York will gather local residents and advocates today at noon in front of Rep. Claudia Tenney’s Binghamton office to demand she oppose the GOP’s proposed cuts to food stamps and food security programs as part of the federal Farm Bill.
The cuts would disproportionately impact the neediest of Tenney’s constituents – including children and senior citizens – and are only being suggested to cover the costs of the GOP’s tax reform bill, which offered millions in tax cuts to the wealthiest fraction of Americans while simultaneously costing New York’s families an estimated $2.4 billion more in 2019 alone.
Attendees will rally and demand Rep. Tenney oppose the proposed cuts to food security programs, and join the fight to end the GOP’s assault on working- and middle-class Central New Yorkers.
WHAT: Rally to call on Rep. Claudia Tenney to oppose GOP’s proposed cuts to food stamps and critical food security programs as part of federal Farm Bill.
WHEN: 12 p.m. – 1 p.m.
WHERE: 49 Court St., Binghamton
