Utica, NY – March 2013) The Greater Utica Region drew a crowd of 7,799 walkers and runners that lined the streets on Saturday, March 2.
Participants helped raise $1,100,188 at America’s Greatest Heart Run and Walk. Heartfelt thanks and congratulations goes to all of the teams and fundraisers who helped the American Heart Association work toward the mission of building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
Special recognition goes to the 2013 top fundraiser, Anthony Scott raising $21,500 and the 2013 top team fundraiser, Team Stasaitis, raising $37,285 in support of the American Heart Association.
The American Heart Association also crowned a Heart Run & Walk participant with the Lifestyle Change Award, sponsored by Olivari Mediterranean Olive Oil, for the third consecutive year. The criteria for the award were major changes and/or significant strides towards living a healthier life made by an individual. The 2013 Lifestyle Change recipient was Adam Powers from W. Winfield.
The 10 of Hearts Drive Away Drawing Grand Prize winner was Susan Trout from Tionesta, PA. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the drawing, the winner gets to choose one (1) of 10 vehicles. The 1st Prize winner was James Lacell from Cleveland, NY and the 2nd Prize winner was Kathleen Robinson from Utica, NY.
Participants may turn in pledge money until March 29, 2013. Incentives can be picked up at the American Heart Association office located at 120 Lomond Court in Utica, Monday-Friday between 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.
